| A suspect was shot by a homeowner after an alleged home invasion. According to police, the investigation found that the home was occupied by a 41-year-old man, his wife and three children. The homeowner was alerted to something by the family dog and he began to check the property armed with a shotgun. | Woman shoots home invader in Gresham, police say |

| A woman shot someone who broke into her home Wednesday in Gresham on the South Side, police said. The 31-year-old was in a residence when a male forced his way inside, Chicago police said. The woman pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the suspect in the foot, police said. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

| A homeowner was sleeping in his living room at about 1:45 a.m. when he was woken up by sounds that were later determined to be a man forcing open the front door to his home. The 54-year-old homeowner grabbed his firearm and yelled at the burglar, “I have a weapon” state police said. | Deputies with the Orangeburg Co. Sheriff’s Office say three men forced their way into a home on Bass St. in Holly Hill. Investigators say the suspects sprayed a woman in the home with pepper spray and struck a 62 year old man with a handgun. At some point, deputies say shots were fired and one of the suspects was shot in the head. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says people need to think twice before entering a home that’s not theirs, “Many home owners in this county and across the country are armed.
