Attacks of an Arbitrary Nature

The Disarm America Movement is amassing strength in both rhetoric and numbers like never before. We are on the verge of the Democratic Primary, which will be the most ferociously anti-freedom presidential primary in American history.

These are dangerous times for the Second Amendment. But the truth is on our side.

The Disarm America Movement claims their disarmament rhetoric and legislative proposals are about saving lives, but the actions of Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, Chris Murphy, and the like out them as sanctimonious hacks devoid of any real solutions.

Every element of their plan of attack is arbitrary. From the limits placed on magazine capacity to waiting periods of whichever stretch of time tickles the legislators’ fancy, there is no particular research, rhyme or reason as to why their solutions work.

Government Building

Following the trend of farcical strategies are universal background checks—the newest and shiniest object the Disarm America Movement has brought to the table. Emotion, not facts, serves as the foundation of this universally bad idea. The all-out push for universal background checks displays the anti-gun advocates’ ignorance and skills in public relations, not in practical solutions or in public safety.

In fact, research from our very own government shows plain as day that the idea of implementing universal background checks is based solely on the sanctimony of gun-safety platitudes and not empirical facts. But don’t tell that to Dick Blumenthal—he’s using universal background checks as the theme for his campaign ads.

In fact, research from our very own government shows plain as day that the idea of implementing universal background checks is based solely on the sanctimony of gun-safety platitudes and not empirical facts.

Not to be outdone is the insanity housed in Salem.

For Oregon’s disarmament-obsessed lawmakers, universal background checks aren’t nearly enough to satiate their virtue signaling demands. State legislators there are pushing a bill that would not only limit ammunition purchases to just 20 rounds per month, but magazine capacity would legally be limited to five rounds.

Again, arbitrary.

Dice

Do they have data that shows only five rounds are necessary for a concealed carrier to survive a life-or-death situation? Are there fact sheets that support the notion that not only will criminals purchase their firearms through a licensed dealer, but that the 10 days they have to wait for their California-compliant AR-15 will provide enough time for their hearts to soften and their rage to simmer?

They don’t have any of that. What they have is a constituency that is blindly obedient to solutions that won’t work, rhetoric that is full of hot air, and an agenda that is wholly unconstitutional. Attacks of an arbitrary nature may win elections and poll well with the uninformed, but they won’t save lives, they won’t disarm criminals, and in the long run, they won’t prevail. It’s up to us to be informed, to stand, to unite around our worthy cause, and fight for what we know is right.
