A bystander shot and helped detain a 16-year-old boy suspected of fatally shooting another teen as two groups fought in Cielo Vista Mall, El Paso police said late Friday night. The argument between the groups escalated into a physical fight during which the 16-year-old suspect pulled out a gun and fatally shot one of the teens and seriously wounded another teen. After the shooting, the suspect ran away while pointing his gun toward the direction of bystanders, including a 32-year-old man, police said. The bystander pulled out his gun as the suspect ran towards him and other bystanders and shot the suspect, police said. | Armed 70-year-old homeowner ends break-in attempt |

| A burglary suspect is recovering after he was shot by a homeowner while breaking into a house in North Charleston, according to an incident report obtained by ABC News 4. The owner of the home told police that he and a female acquaintance were at a gas station when the suspect approached the woman and started an argument. According to the witness, the suspect put the woman in a chokehold, but she was able to get away. The two returned to their home. Police say the suspect then showed up at the home and proceeded to kick in the screen door and front door. | Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said a 67-year-old woman shot and killed a man they said forced his way into her home with a gun. According to the police report, the 67-year-old said she heard the door handle shaking around 3:30 a.m. and grabbed a gun to see what was going on. The report says she opened the door, and the suspect forced his way in with a gun. She told him to leave several times, but he wouldn’t and kept saying, “They’re after me.” She told deputies he raised his arms with the revolver in his hands and believed the hammer was cocked. In fear for her life, she shot him. “You absolutely have the right to defend yourself in that particular scenario,” Putnam County Sheriff Gator DeLoach told Action News Jax.
