“My hero” – Hairstylist praises salon customer who shot armed robbery suspect

Two stylists and one customer were in a San Antonio salon when an armed man entered and began demanding “Money, cell phones, purse. Money, money.”

The man gave conflicting orders, telling everyone not to move after one hairstylist ran over to be by the other two people, so they all remained frozen, which apparently angered the would-be robber. The customer, a 26-year-old man, tried to explain that the money in the salon had already been collected and taken to the bank for the day, so he wouldn’t get much. At this, the suspect became irate and began pistol-whipping the man, then ordered him to the ground and started to bind him with zip-ties.

The customer seemed to be complying and was on his knees, but suddenly drew his own gun, spun around and shot the assailant at least three times, killing him. The suspect was later identified as a 50-year-old man with a lengthy criminal record that included prior burglary and evading arrest. The customer reportedly was a little late to his haircut that evening because he’d stopped at home specifically to get his gun. “It was impressive,” one stylist told reporters. “It was like he was Agent 007 … He’s my hero.” Continue reading »

Virginia homeowner ends burglary spree

A burglary spree in Falls Church, Va., was ended by an armed homeowner who fired upon an early-morning intruder.

Fairfax County police say the suspect had attempted to break into another home in the Lake Barcroft neighborhood before attempting to enter the second home. The alleged break-in occurred at about 2:30 a.m. while the homeowner was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher. After confronting the burglar at the front door of the house, the homeowner opened fire, striking the intruder with multiple shots.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, and police say he will face charges once his condition improves. Local neighbors commented on the rising crime in the area. “We’ve been living here 25 years, and it’s like, little stuff—cars getting fussed with—that’s become more frequent in the last three or four years,” an anonymous neighbor told reporters. One suspect is dead and another faces multiple charges, including felony murder, following a home invasion in Phoenix, Ariz.

A police investigation revealed that several armed, masked suspects forced their way into the house, which had several occupants. One of the home’s residents opened fire on the intruders, and after a brief exchange of gunfire, the suspects fled. One 28-year-old suspect was found outside the house with a single gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police later tracked down an additional 19-year-old suspect believed to have been involved in the home invasion, and he currently faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree burglary and kidnapping. A suspected intruder is dead after failing to heed warnings and instructions to leave from an armed father in New Mexico.

Police say the 45-year-old suspect began banging on the door of the home and then “broke open the door.” He immediately went into the home’s kitchen, which was located down the hall from the bedroom where the homeowner’s three kids were sleeping. The armed father demanded that the suspect leave his home, and eventually, the intruder attempted to assault the man, causing him to fire at least one round from his handgun.

The suspect fell to the floor of the kitchen, and the homeowner called 911. Responding officers pronounced the suspect dead at the scene. No family members were injured during the incident. No charges have been filed against the homeowner. Continue reading »

Attempt to steal truck ends badly for would-be thief

A would-be car thief ended up in a Mountlake Terrace, Wash., hospital after being confronted during an early morning robbery attempt.

The thief was in the process of stealing a truck at a local residence at 4:30 a.m. when they were confronted by a relative of the truck’s owner. The thief pointed a handgun at the relative, who was also armed. The relative drew and fired multiple shots at the suspected thief. Despite the intervention, the thief still managed to get away in the stolen truck, but the story didn’t end there.

Police say that, shortly thereafter, a person driving a truck arrived at an area hospital for emergency treatment after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. An investigation revealed that this person was the same individual suspected of stealing the truck. The suspect was listed as being in stable condition. Continue reading »
