Authorities say a man opened fire on a suspected burglar who attacked his wife at their home in North Redington Beach. Deputies said they responded to reports of a burglary around 3:23 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the 51-year-old suspect standing in the roadway with a single gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators said the suspect had been yelling outside before he went to their residence and smashed through the front window with a rock. Deputies said he encountered a 74-year-old woman inside the residence and “began to struggle with her physically.” Her husband heard her screams and saw her struggling with the suspect. Seattle homeowner uses rifle to fend off four attackers |

| The Seattle Police Department (SPD) said officers responded to a report of an attempted home invasion robbery. Police spoke to the homeowner, who said three men tried to break down his door but were unsuccessful and fled the scene. The SPD says the suspects tried a second time at around 12:25 a.m. the next morning. Authorities say four men returned to the house to try breaking the door down with a sledgehammer. | A Trempealeau County homeowner shot a man who broke into his home. That's according to Blair police. Chief Kent Johnson said dispatch got a call around 1:00 a.m.
The caller said a man had broken into her home. Her husband confronted and shot the suspect who kicked in their door. The suspect is now at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Police say the same suspect also broke into another home earlier in the night. Blair police say there is no threat to the public

| Authorities said Monday that they will not seek charges against a Knightdale homeowner who shot an intruder last week in the Langston Ridge subdivision. The shooting happened in the 1300 block of Redwood Valley Lane. The homeowner told officers he shot the man, who was trying to break into his house after the intruder ignored verbal warnings. | A store owner confronted suspected burglars in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood Thursday morning. Chicago police said three male suspects shattered the front door window of a business at 460 East 61st Street at about 4:35 a.m. They made entry into a convenience store and began taking merchandise when police said the 40-year-old store owner arrived. The owner said one of the suspects took out a gun and fired shots at her and the owner fired back, police said.
