  A homeowner in Keizer shot and killed a home invader early Sunday morning, according to police. In a brief statement, police said officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound at a residence at approximately 2:20 a.m.. A mother in Milwaukee fatally shot a male intruder who broke into her house Monday morning, claiming that she was trying to protect her children. The mother, who was unidentified, told local news station TMJ4, that she was in the shower when she heard children, a 12-year-old, and a 14-year-old, screaming from the living room. In a quick response, she grabbed her gun from her bedroom and ran over to face the intruder who was already being attacked by her two dogs, but still, he "wouldn't stop coming." A Huntington Beach, California, jewelry store owner opened fire on armed intruders after they broke into that store and shot at him, authorities said. Isabella's Fine Jewelry was locked when the intruders broke in, Huntington Beach Police Department spokeswoman Jessica Cuchilla said, and they forcibly entered the store when the owner was helping a customer, according to a report. The intruders "forcibly entered a business with weapons & an exchange of gunfire occurred as the store owner defended himself. The intruders fled in 2 vehicles. Chicago police say a concealed carry license holder thwarted an attempted carjacker by returning gunfire, critically wounding the offender but walking free himself unscathed. The 45-year-old male victim was in his vehicle at approximately 1:27 a.m. in the Austin neighborhood when he was approached by an unknown male offender, according to the Chicago Police Department. The offender produced a handgun and fired shots at the victim, police said. Luckily, the victim — reported to be a concealed carry license holder — was armed and returned fire. A homeowner shot and killed a man armed with a knife in the front yard of his Lincoln Heights home, police said. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the homeowner was approached by the suspect just before 10 p.m. Friday on the 500 block of E Avenue 28th street. Police say for an unknown reason the suspect charged at the homeowner and attempted to stab him. The victim shot the suspect then called police, according to LAPD.
