75-year-old 'superwoman' uses gun to ward off home invasion

A 75-year-old woman opened fire on two intruders who broke into her Oakland home and came under fire herself, authorities said. Officers said two armed men forced their way into a home and began searching. The elderly resident was the only one at the home when the intruders broke in. Fearing for her safety, the 75-year-old woman pulled out her .357 Magnum and fired one round toward the suspects, police said. The suspects returned fire at the woman and fled the scene. Fortunately, the woman was not injured during the shooting, and there were no reports of physical injuries, according to the police… Continue reading »

Armed Montana couple confront bear in their living room

A couple woke up to their dog going nuts one morning. “We brushed it off,” the couple said. They live in the country and figured the dog was just harassing a raccoon or a skunk. But the dog wouldn’t quit. This was different. When one of the residents went downstairs to investigate, he looked behind him and found a black bear five feet away in the living room. The bear started making noises like he owned the place and wasn’t leaving. And, because the bear was between the resident and the locked door, there was no way to show him out. The resident ran for his gun and shot the bear three or four times until it was done chasing him… Continue reading »

Burglary suspect picks wrong house as homeowners, both armed, swiftly shoot him

Authorities in Missouri said an alleged burglar who entered a home in McDonald County with a firearm was met by two homeowners, who had guns of their own, who shot and swiftly detained the man until police arrived. “Arriving deputies made contact with the homeowners who had come home to find a man inside the home,” Sheriff Rob Evenson said. “The homeowners entered the house to find a man barricaded in a room. The burglar fired a shot at the homeowners from a handgun [and] the homeowners, who were both armed with handguns, returned fire, striking the burglar with a gunshot in each thigh.”… Continue reading »

Carjackers target armed pizza deliveryman

A pizza deliveryman fought back against a pair of would-be carjackers in the parking lot of a Chestnut Hill neighborhood apartment complex overnight, shooting one of them, Philadelphia police said. The incident took place just off Stenton Avenue just before midnight, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Two masked men with guns approached the 21-year-old deliveryman as he was dropping off food, Small said. "He was being carjacked and robbed," Small said. "One of them forced the 21-year-old deliveryman into the back seat and one of the perpetrators got into the backseat with him," Small said. "The other perpetrator got into the front seat. And they started asking him for money." The robbers then wanted to know where the man worked and if he had any apps on his phone that he could use to get money to them, Small said. The deliveryman was able to get out of the vehicle and confront one of the robbers, firing two shots, Small said. The would-be robber was struck once in the backside… Continue reading »
